2010-2011

Congrats to former Washington gymnast Jen Kessler (Gym East) who placed 2nd on bars at NCAA Nationals!


Congrats to SPU for 4th place at USAG Collegiate Nationals. Local girls Anissa Madrid took 2nd place on beam and Corinne Wise 3rd place beam. (Both are former Metropolitan Gymnastics athletes) (Sam Taylor 5th on bars and Bri Steigauf tied for 5th on floor.) Nationals were held at Air Force.

Also of note: Dana Bonincontri, former Gym East gymnast also qualified for USAG College Nationals and was in finals for U of Penn and tied for 3rd place on bars and tied for 5th on floor. Dana also competed at NCAA Regionals this year.

USAG JO Rules Clarifications Feb. 2, 2010


Our Washington State Level 7 team did great at the National Judges Cup. Out of 20 teams, they took 3rd place! And Jada Czysz-Deboer took first AA. Great job WA! (NorCal won, and PA crept into 2nd at the last event.) Results and comments

National Champions!  Congratulations to the Lakewood WA YMCA Team for bringing home the team titles for the Championship (L9/10) and Level 8 Divisions at the YMCA Nationals Gymnastics Championships - held in Pheonixville, PA at the end of June.  This is the 9th win for the Lakewood YMCA Championship Team - breaking the record (tied) with the Seattle YMCA.  Seattle won their championships between 1965 and 1974.

In the individual all-around competition, Mia Tabbutt brought the Lakewood YMCA their 8th Individual National Title - the most of any YMCA participating in the event. Past champions include: Joyce Tanac, Lorna Woodward, Cleo Carver, Debbie Halle, and Yumi Modre from the Seattle YMCA and Linda Metheny Mulvihill from the Champaign IL, YMCA. Big Congrats to two local gymnasts who compete for SPU - Brianna Schwartz (Gymnastics Unlimited) won the National Bars title at USAG Collegiate Nationals in New Haven, CT. Kaysha Heck (CEG), also medaled on the bars. She received a third-place.
